#GetFairAboutFarming sought to position Riverford as the nation’s leading food and farming activist.
To achieve this, Riverford stood up for farmers in the face of an issue threatening the fabric of British farming – the behaviour of supermarkets and their suppliers.
We carried out detailed research to identify how supermarkets and their suppliers were threatening the livelihoods of family farmers, resulting in strong statistics that helped our campaign make national headlines.
After learning that nearly half of British fruit & veg farmers feared they would be out of business within 12 months, we drafted a powerful open letter to the CEOs of the ‘Big Six’ supermarkets, and secured over 100 signatures from celebrities, MPs, organisations, farmers and public figures.
Building out a comprehensive press pack to accompany our campaign, we launched with a first run exclusive interview with Guy, securing coverage in over 15 national titles and leading our petition to climb to over 10,000 signatures in the first day alone.
Our dedicated broadcast day also allowed to hit all media verticals, with our coverage total soaring to over 300 pieces across online, print & broadcast. The Get Fair About Farming campaign was even raised in the House of Lords by former leader of the Green Party, Natalie Bennett.
